22.3.

Rain was heavy on port 10 in Genova. The Ferry was delayed and planned start was at 19:00. Internet was not working on the mobile, so I bought an Italian Sim, to get some mails and basic social updates. I cheated the ferry ticket price: instead of 2,30m my van, was suddenly only 2,10m high. This saved 86€ on the ferry price.

The start from Genova was very rough, the sea was angry. As usual, the evening on the ferry went very short and after watching the departure I decided instead of stupid spending money on bad coffee to end the day quickly.

23.3

Good morning, the cabin was right beside the police and customs declaration queues. This woke me up. Seeing the long queues, I skipped this rave and made breakfast priority no. 1. There were 2 options in the past, the self-service breakfast and the higher class breakfast. I checked the first option, and before anything else, I was seated. Seems, it is this time free of charge. Simple coffee, marmalade, some butter and one small baguette later I felt ready for queuing up. First queued up for the police, the passport was registered. The longer queue now stands for the customs. Of course slower. Luckily I spend my extra hours at the port to fill the papers in advance. Since ages I have huge stacks of Tunisian customs papers at home. I checked quickly if they have changed (how could Tunisians change something which creates a lot of work) and queued myself in the line and defend my position for overtaking. Since ages the people think if they rush and make pressure, they would arrive faster in Tunis, the ship would divide itself and they could be on board on the faster part of the divided ship. The tourists were of course heavily underrepresented. I saw one Swiss truck with a quad on a trailer. And a bunch of Italian Land Rover bandits looking for small dune satisfaction. Fiercely upgraded, they remind me a bit on the film "The book of Eli". It must have been hard to be trapped for 5+ hours in heavy rain in such a tiny cabin. Meanwhile, I enjoyed the port time with a movie in my spacious van.

I started to feel little bit bad about the monstrous space left after loading my van for this small trip. Jumping back 2 days before departure, I was thinking if I shall take the large or the small trailer with me. Suddenly, on the way back from Carstens US car garage, I looked in my rear mirror and saw the gigantic space I am carrying behind my hair tips. How I could waste this space? Wasn't it me who called himself the master of African style packing? Yes. Quickly checking the options, like 3D Tetris for adults, I came the point that 2 quads would fit inside. Then I need a back carrying tray to hook 2 quads side by side vertically in the back of my van. This would be 600 kg extra on the tail. But everyone who "enjoyed" a ride with me and the battle suspension, would agree that this suspension screams for load. Completing the picture of the fully loaded van, I stopped at my village's steel tube artist and told him my idea. Next day, the Friday of departure, we started to weld square tubes and steel plates together. 35 kg of steel and 4 hours later we have a rail of 2,40m wide on the van's back. "Just" lurking 15 cm on each side. Unload the van, place the heavy trailer hook bay below everything and reload all.

But I still feel bad about the space. I didn't know what to do with such extreme luxury. I packed hundreds of screws, all canisters of oil types, my welding machine, the disc flex, drilling machine and wood saw, power generator, air compressor, all belts, and all things of stuff I would give away for free or small price to people who have a crankshaft in they heads instead of a usual brain.

And still, after loading all of this, 3/4 of the cargo bay in my van is empty. I felt soo bad about this, seeking in rush if I forgot the "one big thing", checked my loading list 5 more times and dived several times into all storage corners of our home.

Back on the ship, laziness is spreading, everyone is seeking for entertainment. Movies screaming, unknown football games were transmitted, people are gathering according to their interests. The same meets the same.
